About QRocodile

A free designer for QR codes that look as good as they scan, built by a small team that got tired of watermarks and paywalls.

Every design here is a starting point in the designer. Click one to make it yours.

Why We Built This

A QR code doesn’t have to be a black-and-white square that spoils the poster, menu, or business card it sits on. It can match your brand, carry your colors, or just look good. We built QRocodile to make that easy, with styles from clean and minimal to botanical and playful, all designed so the code still scans. Most free generators don’t stay free for long. The QR code you printed last month now leads to a paywall, the download has a watermark, or the one style you liked is locked behind a login. We wanted a designer that stays out of the way: pick a style, get a QR code that scans, download it as SVG or PNG, done.

What We Don’t Do

No signup for the designer, no watermark, no ads. No redirect through our servers, so your QR codes keep working even if QRocodile disappears. No trial that expires, no “upgrade to download”.

Private by Design

The designer runs entirely in your browser. The WiFi password, contact card, or link you encode is generated on your device and never sent to us. The QR Render API and the MCP server (for ChatGPT, Claude, and other assistants) are different: they render on our servers, so you need an API key or a sign-in. We store your email address and basic usage data, such as when you make a request and in which format, to enforce fair limits. We don’t store what you render.

More Than a Designer

QRocodile started as a designer in the browser and has grown since. It now also offers batch generation, animated QR codes you can embed on your own site, a REST API for developers, and an MCP server that lets an AI assistant design QR codes for you. The API clients are open source.

Who’s Behind It

QRocodile is built and maintained by Norbert, Philipp, and Daniel. The designer is free, and we intend to keep it that way.
